nebhands National Resource Center E-Newsletter Spotlight

For men and women suffering from the anguish of drug and alcohol addiction, or for prisoners suddenly released back into the community, the world often seems like a valley of dry bones, a harsh place devoid of life and hope. Fortunately, the situation for these and other hurting people is not beyond repair. Many organizations here in Nebraska, with the help of Capital Compassion Fund – Nebraskans Expanding Behavioral Health Access through Networking Delivery Systems (nebhands), are working to “put breath” into the lives of troubled individuals throughout the state.

Ecumenical Lending Library Now Open

Interchurch Ministries of Nebraska has a number of resources available to borrow at its new Ecumenical Lending Library . Individuals can browse for books and request them online. The lending library has resources of interest to rural ministries, on mental health, substance abuse, domestic violence, and much more.


Events Affecting Behavioral Health

"Bipartisan, Bicameral Children's Mental Health Bill Introduced"

Republican and Democratic Senators and Representatives joined together last week to introduce "The Keeping Families Together Act," a bill to improve access to children's mental health services and to put an end to the practice of families giving up custody of their children to secure state-funded mental health services for their children.
